Duquesne Football Fills Hole in Schedule

Duquesne University Athletics announced today that Dukes Football will play NCAA Division III Frostburg State University on Saturday of its Homecoming Weekend -- Sept. 29, 2007, at 1 p.m.
The Sept. 29 game was originally scheduled against Division I Football Championship Subdivision and fellow Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference member Saint Peter's College, but St. Peter's Athletics announced the dropping of its football program earlier this month, leaving Duquesne to search for a team to fill the void in its schedule.
Duquesne has played the Frostburg State Bobcats -- a member of the Atlantic Central Football Conference -- three times in the past, losing all three meetings while both programs were competing at the Division III level.
Frostburg State posted a 2-7 record in 2006.

I'm glad we filed the hole, but this is a no-win game. If we win, big deal. If we lose to D-III its BAD.

We may do well in the NE Conference. I'd still like to see an A-10 Football League when most of the current A-10 teams that are not charter members leave for the CAA. Duquesne, RI, Richmond, La Salle, Temple (They belong 1-AA), Dayton, UMASS (unless they go 1-A), Fordham. Add Marist and what's left of the MAAC (who want to play) and Villanova if they don't go south.
